The United Arab Emirates is known for its hospitality, but it still requires a visa. And to get it you need to follow certain instructions.

Every year thousands of tourists from Russia visit this country, and in this article we will look at all the intricacies that are associated with obtaining a visa and possible cases of refusal. We will also figure out whether Russians need a visa to the UAE in 2019 and what the abolition of visas to the UAE means.

Getting a visa to the UAE is necessary, but getting it is a little different. In 2019, you will not need to apply for a visa to the UAE in advance if for some reason your stay does not last more than a month. Despite the fact that previously it was necessary to request permission before starting the trip.

Now let’s figure out whether a visa to the UAE is obtained without a tour on your own, the cost of a visa to the UAE and how it is issued in Russia.

There is a visa regime between the Russian Federation and the UAE. Citizens often travel to this country for various reasons. And, regardless of the type of trip to the UAE, a visa is required. Moreover, it is important to resolve all issues regarding visiting this country in advance, because very serious rules apply here.

But since February of this year, the system for obtaining a visa for Russians has been simplified - now it does not need to be issued in advance, but is done upon arrival at the airport. Also, such a permit is now issued completely free of charge.

Today, entry approval is a regular stamp in a passport and is valid for 30 days, but can be extended for the same period, but only once. However, you will have to pay $169 to renew.

In order for Russians to obtain a visa to the Emirates, it is enough to have a foreign passport with you, it’s up to you, but its validity must be at least 6 months from the date of completion of the trip. No more documents will be needed.

Where can I obtain this document, which gives permission to enter the UAE?

If the trip will last more than 30 days and the purpose of visiting the UAE is not tourism, a visa is required and should be issued:

  1. Firstly, at the Moscow Embassy, but this is only if the citizen has a service passport.
  2. Sharjah is the UAE visa center where such permits are issued.
  3. From the migration authorities of the Emirates or from a travel agency that operates in Russia.

Types of visas

There are visas for residents of Russia: tourist, work, guest and business visas.

Tourist visa

To apply for this visa, you can simply go to a hotel in the Emirates. But you need to be sure that this service is provided by this hotel.

Required documents for Russians:

  1. International passport.
  2. A photograph that must fit a specific pattern.
  3. You must consent to the processing of personal data.
  4. Fill out the form.

A foreign passport must be valid for at least 6 months. In some cases, they are asked to provide air tickets and receipts for payment for a hotel room. If a tourist does not check into his room without any warning, then the visa automatically becomes invalid, because this amounts to a violation. And next time the visa will take longer.

Visa for work

To get an official job in the United Arab Emirates, you need a work visa. Moreover, a person cannot obtain it himself. As a rule, it is issued by employers. The company also collects documents. But the future employee must provide photocopies of his foreign passport and diploma.

This permit is issued for 60 days. But if you have property in the UAE, then you can get a resident visa - it is valid for 2-3 years, but its registration is handled by the company that sold the property.

Transit visa to the UAE

Very often there are flights that fly with transfers at UAE airports. And in order to be able to leave the waiting area for the next flight, a transit visa is required. It is done upon arrival in the UAE. This document allows you to stay in the country for 96 hours. If you are traveling on a cruise, then the responsibility for obtaining permission lies with the tour organizer.

Student visa

The United Arab Emirates, in addition to hospitality and architecture, is known for its good universities. Their diplomas are in demand all over the world. Well, in order to study there, you definitely need to get a visa to the UAE.

To do this, you need to prepare the following documents for a UAE visa:

  • a photocopy of a foreign passport or birth certificate;
  • certificate of all vaccinations.

If a student is transferred, he is required to provide a transcript of grades and a certificate that follows a certain format and confirms the transfer. The student also needs 16 photographs to complete the documents. Sometimes they may request the legalization of documents.

Universities licensed by the Ministry of Education have the right to invite students to study.

Visitor visa

It must be completed if a person is traveling to visit his family or relatives. Moreover, the one who receives is the one who receives. You can enter the country using it for 60 days, but stay for only 29 days. But it is allowed to be extended.

Visa for children

In the United Arab Emirates, it is not possible to obtain an entry permit for a child if there are no guardians, parents or other legal representatives. A refusal is also possible if the child has not reached the age of majority and travels with one mother. In this case, consent will be required, which will be translated into English.

Due to recent changes in legislation this year, a child is required to travel to the UAE. It is not allowed to write in the parents' passport. And any failure to comply with the rules in this country risks deportation.

What should the photos be like?

To apply for a visa for Russians in 2019 electronically, you will definitely need a scanned photograph, which must fully comply with the requirements:

  • it must have a resolution of 240x320 pixels;
  • there should be no headdresses or other accessories that will hide the face, unless, of course, there are good reasons for this (for example, for religious reasons);
  • the image must not exceed 60 KB in size;
  • jpeg format - no other is even considered;
  • The photo should be light and clear.

How long does it take to obtain a visa?

As for the time frame during which a visa to the UAE will be ready, on average it takes 2-4 days, but this does not take into account holidays and weekends. Sometimes the process can take up to 7 days, but these are rare cases.

However, many travel agencies are ready to offer entry permits within 24 hours. But if a citizen has a common Arabic surname or one similar to it, then the processing time for the document may be delayed.

How much does a UAE visa cost?

The longer the entry permit is valid, the more expensive it is. If the duration is 90 days, then the cost will be $186. But you also need to take into account the fees for the services provided by the intermediary.

If a person is refused to receive a document, then the funds paid will not be returned. Usually the price ranges from $150-300. A UAE visitor visa costs $400-500. But the cost of transit will be 110-135 $.

The amount of the required payment can also be found out from the company that will handle this. If the child is registered in the parents’ passport, the permit is issued free of charge. But if he has his own document, then the fee is paid in full.

How to renew a document

If a citizen stays in the UAE after the expiration of his visa, he will be fined 100 dirhams - this is approximately $30 per day. However, the document allowing you to stay in the country can be extended, and thereby avoid fines.

To renew you need:

  1. Stay in a hotel whose class is not lower than 5.
  2. You must also have a receipt with you, which indicates that the hotel has been paid for. But a tourist visa cannot be extended because it is a single-entry visa.

What are the customs regulations?

This country has strict rules that every foreigner must follow. Because violating them threatens with a huge fine or, worse, deportation or imprisonment.

  1. It is strictly forbidden to bring weapons, even toy ones, drugs, pork and gambling to the United Arab Emirates.
  2. If the drugs prescribed by the attending physician contain narcotics, then you simply need to have a prescription translated into English with you.
  3. When entering the country, all printed materials and video materials are checked - in no case should they contain pornographic information or other information that may offend the religious feelings of Emirati citizens.
  4. Pirated products are also confiscated.
  5. It is prohibited to import fruits and vegetables into Abu Dhabi, and seafood contaminated with cholera cannot be brought to Dubai.
  6. A visa to the United Arab Emirates must not be expired.

But there are goods that can be imported into the country for free, but in strictly limited quantities:

  • alcoholic drinks - no more than 2 liters;
  • tobacco products – 400-2000 pieces, the total weight of tobacco should not exceed 2 kg;
  • It is possible to import souvenirs and gifts, but they should not exceed the amount of 3100 dirhams.

But there are no special prohibitions on export. It is only prohibited to export seeds, palm fruits, as well as large quantities of jewelry and stones without a receipt.

Rules that must be followed while staying in the United Arab Emirates

  1. First, you should follow the rules of etiquette in public places. There are many traditions in the UAE that need to be respected.
  2. Secondly, the appearance must comply with the standards prescribed by the rules of this country. Women should not wear clothes that are too short and tight; Wearing swimsuits is only allowed on the beaches.
  3. Thirdly, young couples should not show feelings in public. Cohabitation is prohibited by the law of this country. But in hotels it is allowed to accommodate a couple in the same room. If a child in this country is born from an extramarital affair, then the woman can be imprisoned for this or even deported.
  4. People who are not Muslims cannot go to sacred places. But some large mosques give the go-ahead for tourists to visit these places.
  5. You cannot throw garbage on the street - heavy fines are imposed for this.
  6. Gambling, drugs and prostitution are unacceptable in this country.
  7. Smoking in public places is also prohibited.
  8. It is prohibited to photograph women of Muslim nationality, sheik palaces and government and military buildings.

The police ensure that rules and regulations are followed. Representatives of law enforcement agencies do not take bribes. Any violation of the rules will result in a fine, arrest or deportation.

Obtaining a visa to the UAE - possible reasons for refusal

There are reasons that may affect a positive decision when obtaining entry approval:

  • if the visa regime was violated during the previous visit. Moreover, here it will not be possible to change your last name and passport, because retinal data is included in the blacklist;
  • violation of the migration regime;
  • if there is an outstanding visa stamp;
  • if there is a namesake on the “black list”, they may refuse. But, nevertheless, if a tourist has visited, then the Emirates does not prevent the entry of this citizen.

Based on everything considered, we can summarize:

  1. Russians will need a visa to travel to the UAE in 2019.
  2. You can apply for a visa upon arrival in the Emirates, in accordance with the new rules.
  3. To receive it, you must provide guarantees from the sponsor. Hotels, airlines and travel companies can act as sponsors. In order for a hotel to be eligible to be a sponsor, it must have at least four stars.
  4. The cost of a UAE visa depends on its type and validity period.
  5. In order for an unmarried young woman to enter the country, it is necessary to provide permission from her parents or the presence of a man nearby, as well as a financial guarantee that she will be able to return to her homeland.
  6. Major air carriers can help obtain visas to the Emirates for their clients.
  7. Under no circumstances should you travel to the UAE without a visa, because this immediately threatens you with deportation and inclusion in the “black list”.
  8. A visa to the UAE can be obtained independently, but you need to find out about this in advance, because changes constantly appear.
  9. Respect for all rights and proper behavior can make your holiday in this country fabulously enjoyable, and possibly even further.

In the article, we examined the main issues of how to obtain a visa to the UAE and how to correctly apply for different types of entry permits so as not to overshadow your vacation.

But in general, the UAE is a very interesting country with its own culture, rules and customs, especially beautiful.

You are going on holiday to the Emirates and it’s time to think about a visa. Citizens of the Russian Federation must register in advance to visit the United Arab Emirates. Obtaining a visa to the UAE on your own is not difficult; you just need to pay attention to some issues, which I will talk about in more detail.

There are several types of visas to the Emirates: tourist, visitor and transit. Visitor visas are issued for a period of 90 days for relatives or work trips, and transit visas are issued directly at the airport for a period of no more than 14 days. But we need a tourist visa. Even before 2001, only British citizens received visas automatically at Emirates airport. After 2001, this list increased by another 33 countries, but Russia was not included in this list, despite the fact that Russian tourists occupy a leading place in terms of visits and the amount of money spent in the Emirates.

And here is the list of countries that are allowed visa-free entry into the UAE: Italy, Germany, San Marino, USA, France, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Monaco, Spain, Vatican City, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland , Iceland, Greece, Malta, Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Holland, Ireland, Austria and New Zealand. Citizens of all other countries still need a visa, which can be obtained at visa centers.

The tourist visa, which you must obtain, is valid for 58 days, but you can only stay in the Emirates for 30 days. Also, to obtain a visa, you must have a sponsor; it can be a travel company if you book a tour with it, or a hotel if you are traveling on your own.

A tourist visa can be obtained in two ways - through the Dubai Visa Application Center and through the UAE Visa Application Center in Moscow. How to get a visa to the UAE - consider both options.

Applying for a UAE visa through the Dubai Visa Application Center is the easiest way. The visa issuance period is 2 – 3 working days. The consular fee will be 2208 rubles. In this way, a visa is issued if a round trip flight to the Emirates is carried out by Emirates Airlines to Dubai Airport. In order to apply for a visa, you must already have an open visa to the Schengen countries, USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, or have visited them in the last five years.

It may turn out that you do not fall into this category, then you will have to confirm your financial solvency. It is necessary to submit a document indicating an annual income of at least 400,000 rubles or a certificate from work for the last six months with an average income of at least 33,335 rubles. In addition to all this, you need the following documents for a visa to the UAE:

  1. original internal and international passports plus copies of all completed pages
  2. application form - an application filled out in English
  3. original round-trip ticket purchased from Emirates plus a copy of it
  4. receipts for payment of visa fees
  5. a copy of current or departed visas, if available
  6. permission to enter the Emirate from a spouse or parents
  7. hotel reservation confirmation
  8. financial documents

Detailed requirements for submitting and processing documents for a visa must be clarified at the UAE Embassy in Moscow. You can submit documents to the Dubai Visa Center in person, but if you cannot, then relatives or friends can do it for you; you do not need to issue a power of attorney, and you do not need to have a passport with you.

You can also apply for a visa through the UAE visa center in Moscow. A visa to the UAE for Russians is issued in this way if the flight is carried out through Etihad Airways to Abu Dhabi Airport. The visa processing time is 3 – 7 working days. The visa fee will be 2205 rubles. In this case, the design and list of documents resembles.
