Please also note that the fee charged for the MRV is not refundable under any circumstances. First you need to decide whether you really need to apply for a visa. It is not needed if you already have a valid United States visa or are a citizen of a state participating in the Special Entry Without Exit Program.

There is a group of people who do not need to pay a consular fee for a US visa. The following are exempt from paying or can enter the states without a visa:

  • Citizens of Bermuda and . The exception here is for applicants who have applied for V, K, G, E and A visas.
  • Group G and A visas issued for business/official travel do not require any payment.
  • Group J visas, issued through participation in special programs and sponsored by the United States, also do not require a fee.

If you plan to pay a fee, you will need to follow the instructions below.

You can pay for the service in two ways:

  • through the online banking system;
  • using a credit card.

An applicant who is applying for a non-immigrant visa has the opportunity to pay a fee at all computerized departments of the Russian Post. Before you go there, you need to enter information on a special receipt, which can be found on the Internet. You must first print it out and take it with you to the bank, where you will pay the consular fee. You need to deposit exactly the amount of money indicated on this paper. After you make the payment, you will receive a check with an individual number. It should be noted that the fee is set in US dollars.

Use the tips below to correctly compose a receipt:

  • The printable receipt format is not readable on tablet computers and smartphones. For this purpose, to generate a document, you need to use a personal computer.
  • Adobe Reader and Java must be installed on your PC.
  • To save your receipt, you must have access to the Internet. If your network is a corporate network (such networks are known to block Java), then try using a different network.
  • If you have an Apple device running MAC OS, the receipt may not load correctly in the default application. In order to avoid this problem, it is recommended to use Adobe Reader.
  • Make sure your computer has the latest version of the Internet browser.

If Windows is installed on your PC, then it is better to open receipts in IE (Internet Explorer).

If you use other browsers to open, then follow these instructions:

  • First step. Activate the internet link. Typically, the program will launch it in a separate tab.
  • Second step. Download the required file to the internal memory of your PC.
  • Third step. Launch the downloaded PDF file containing the receipt. To do this, as already mentioned, use Adobe Reader.
  • Fourth step. After you have entered all the necessary information, click on the “Options” item and click on the “Always trust this document” function.
  • Fifth step. Follow the instructions in the dialog box to enter your information. At the final stage, the receipt itself will appear, which you need to print and send to the post office with it. The validity period of the document is indicated in the “Payment due date” line.

Payment by credit card

You can pay the consular fee and using a regular bank or credit card. Payment in this case is a prerequisite for subsequent processing of the request. The holder of the credit card fully agrees that the invested amount will not be returned back, even if he is denied a visa. That is, payment of the fee is only necessary to consider the submitted application.

Nonimmigrant Visa Fee

Some individuals also need to pay another fee for a nonimmigrant visa. It is also called mutual collection. It all depends on the type of visa and the citizenship of the applicant. It should be noted that since 2013, legislators have abolished this fee for citizens of the Russian Federation.

In that case, if you are a foreigner who is applying for a visa in, then you need to study the list of additional fees in advance. It is also worth understanding that additional fees cannot be paid at Russian Post or by credit card in advance. It is paid exclusively at the cash desk of the American consulate or embassy on the day you are scheduled for an interview. The consular officer must inform you of this need. If you come to the Moscow embassy for an interview, the fee can be paid either in cash or by credit card. If the interview takes place at the consulate, the fee can only be paid in cash.

How to sign up for an interview

To schedule an interview, you need to contact the contact center or go to the official website of the embassy. Next, you need to provide the registration number of your receipt. This number can be seen in a place that is highlighted with a bright red oval.

If you register for an interview immediately after paying the fee via bank card, then you need to use the sixteen-digit receipt number.

You should also know that the interview is scheduled one day after the visa fee has been paid. If the fee was paid during business hours, you can schedule an interview within three to four hours.

For more information You can contact the Consulate/Embassy contact center or go to the official website of the representative office.

US Nonimmigrant Visa Fee

Anyone seeking a US visa, including minor children, must pay a so-called visa fee before their application can be processed. The consular fee is paid before scheduling an interview and is non-refundable. Even if the visa is not approved, the money is not refunded, since payment is taken for processing the documents, and not for issuing the visa itself. In 2019, the consular fee for a US visa is $160 at the internal rate of the US Embassy. The indicated cost applies to guest, tourist, and business visas. In 2019, a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 3 years is issued for this money.

How to pay the consular fee for a US visa?

There are two different ways to pay for a US visa in 2019. Money can be transferred in cash through Russian Post or made a payment using a bank card via the Internet. To pay the consular fee in cash, you will need to first fill out a receipt electronically. With the completed receipt, you can go to any post office and pay the fee. The applicant’s personal presence is not required - anyone can pay the fee for you. The receipt that will be issued after payment should be kept: the data from it will be required to schedule an interview, and the original document itself will be asked to present at the US Embassy in Moscow.

However, a much more convenient and faster way to pay the consular fee for a US visa is to pay by credit card online. The fee paid in this way is transferred to the account of the US Embassy much more quickly. Usually within 3 hours after making the payment it becomes possible to schedule an interview. For comparison: payment through Russian Post takes only two business days. Due to its convenience, paying for a US visa with a bank card is very popular among applicants. Therefore, if you are still deciding how to pay for your visa to America, then feel free to choose a bank card.

IMPORTANT We recommend that you do not rush to pay the consular fee for a US visa. In case of visa refusal, the consular fee is not refunded. Therefore, before paying the fee, carefully study the sections “Reasons for refusal of a US visa” and “Features of a US visa”. The information in these sections will help you objectively assess your chances of obtaining a visa to America.

IMPORTANT If you mistakenly paid the consular fee for a visa twice or made a payment and then changed your mind about applying for a visa, carefully study the section “US Visa Fee Refund”. In it you will find detailed information on how our company can help you legally and honestly get your money back for the consular fee you paid in 2019.

Paying for a US visa in cash at the company office

To pay for a US visa you will not need to do anything special or special. When applying for a US visa through our company, the consular fee can be paid in cash upon conclusion of the contract. Most applicants choose this payment method. Our specialists, in turn, will make payment via a corporate bank card via the Internet. A receipt for payment for a US visa will be attached to the package of documents and issued to you before your visit to the Embassy. For corporate clients, there is also the opportunity to pay for a US visa by bank transfer with subsequent provision of closing documents for accounting.

There are situations when the applicant is not able to pay for a visa to America by card, but paying in cash at the office is also inconvenient for him. Most often this applies to remote clients. In such cases, we can issue a receipt for payment for the US visa through Russian Post. All you need to do is print it out and take it to the nearest post office. To do this, we will need a number of data from you: your foreign passport number, year of birth, registration address and mobile phone number. You can provide this information to the specialist who is handling your application. We will send you a receipt for your US visa payment by email.

Paying for a visa to America - step by step guide

There is a special website for paying the fee online , through which you can conveniently make a payment for a US visa in 2019. To do this, you must have a bank card that allows you to pay for purchases online. It is not necessary that the card be issued in the name of the applicant himself. Friends or relatives can pay the consular fee for you. Also note that you can pay for several applicants at once from one card.

Step 1. You must read and agree with the terms of payment of the consular fee, which are given in the first paragraph, and also enter the applicant’s date of birth, the name of the card holder and select the required fee amount. Be careful when filling out the contact information field. Please make sure that you entered a valid email address and that you did not make a mistake when entering your phone number. If you make a mistake at this stage, there is a risk of not receiving a payment receipt. And without it it is impossible to sign up for an interview.

Step 2. Double-check the information you entered and make sure a copy of the receipt will be sent to your post office. If you are not paying the consular fee for yourself, do not pay attention to the fact that only your first and last name appears everywhere. The name of the person for whom payment is made in 2019 is not indicated anywhere. The only information about the applicant is the date of birth. Once everything is checked, click “Confirm” and move on to the next step.

Step 3. Now you should select the type of payment system used by your card, enter its number, indicate the expiration date of the card, enter the name of the owner, and also enter the security code. For those who do not know what it is, we explain: the CVV2 security code is three numbers indicated on the back of the card next to the signature of its owner. Once everything is entered and verified, proceed to the next page by clicking the “Approve” button.

Step 4. Depending on your bank, the system may ask you to confirm payment of the consular fee using a password sent via SMS to your mobile phone number. Here you have another opportunity to carefully double-check the transaction data: purpose and amount. If you are not sure about something, it is better to cancel the payment and start over. You will not have another opportunity to do this. After checking the information and entering the password to pay the fee, click the “Confirm” button and wait for the payment to be made.
