Water consumption per person. Water consumption formula - an example of calculating domestic water consumption

Legislative initiatives are pushing a person to install water meters. But not all residents of the country agree with this.

Someone does not want to deal with installation and verification, it is more profitable for someone to pay according to tariffs. However, the rate of water consumption per person per month, set by the tariff, is much higher than the actual consumption.

Average water consumption per person per month

The volume of water consumption on average per person can vary greatly.

It depends on several factors:

 • climatic zone of residence;
 • seasons and peak periods;
 • technical equipment of housing;
 • serviceability of devices and compliance with their requirements;
 • people's personal preferences.

So, in the southern regions, more water is used than in the northern ones, the same applies to summer time.

The presence of a dishwasher and washing machine increases water consumption in many ways, while a two-button flush tank helps save up to 20 percent of water resources. The flow of devices increases the cost of water by 15-30 percent.

On average, it has been established that every Russian spends about 6 cubic meters of cold water and 3 hot water per month.

Water discharge standards per person

In the receipts received monthly by residents, there is such a column - drainage. The standards for it are set separately by each region and on average range from 130 to 360 liters per day.

They are calculated depending on the region of residence and the degree of improvement of housing.

If the apartment does not have a meter, the calculation takes place in accordance with the standards for wastewater multiplied by the approved tariff. The latter may change periodically, so the total amount in the receipt may also change. This usually happens once a year during the summer months.

If a common house meter is installed in the house, then the calculation is made according to its indications. So, tenants who have their own metering devices pay for them. And those who do not have such devices pay for the remaining water disposal, taking into account the number of people registered in the apartments.

Hot water consumption per person per month

In our country, there are water consumption standards that apply to service users who have not installed meters.

So, for hot water, they are 3 cubic meters per month, or 100 liters per day per person.

If more people are registered in the apartment, then the water rate increases in proportion to their number.

The rate of consumption of cold water per person per month

Cold water is also charged in accordance with the standards established by regulatory enactments.

The average consumption in Russia is 6 cubic meters per month or 200 liters per day.

This includes the entire volume that 1 person consumes:

 • for food and drink needs;
 • hygiene procedures;
 • operation of household appliances and cleaning;
 • other expenses.

Tariffs for water supply and sanitation in Moscow

Since the normative calculation of cold water and hot water in different regions is different, Moscow residents use water in accordance with the norms established by the Order of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of the City of Moscow and the Decree of the Government of Moscow "On the Approval of Prices, Rates and Tariffs for Housing and Communal Services for the Population".

The established standard volumes for the month are:

 • 4.7 cubic meters of hot water;
 • 6.9 cubic meters of cold water;
 • 11.7 cubic meters of water disposal.

Muscovites pay for a given amount of consumption according to the established tariffs:

 • RUB 173.02 for 1 cu. m hot water;
 • 35.4 rubles for 1 cu. m cold;
 • RUB 21.9 for 1 cu. m of drainage.

This rate is set per person. When living in an apartment of 2 or more people, it is multiplied by the corresponding number.

How much can you save when installing water meters

The established consumption rates in apartments without a meter, as a rule, do not correspond to the real needs of people. They are greatly overpriced.

This is partly due to compensation for water losses that occur during accidents and neglect of their duties. After all, when water is drained from the heating system, or a pipe flows on the street for several days, the resource losses are very large, and residents have to pay for them at the expense of the volumes laid down in the norms.

Real consumption is 2-4 times less. Even if a person does not save water, his needs fit well into 4 cubes of cold and 3 cubes of hot.

But usually, having installed a metering device, people begin to be more attentive to resource consumption and try to avoid unnecessary expenses. This results in significant savings.

So, if hot water costs 150 rubles per 1 cubic meter, the owner will pay not 450 rubles per month, but one and a half or even two times less (about 180 rubles), the savings will be about 300 rubles.

For a family of 3, the savings will be about 900 rubles. Summing up the consumption of cold water according to the standards, you get a tangible amount for the family budget.

Calculation of payment for the consumption of water resources can occur according to the meter or according to the standards. As we found out, the first method is much more profitable for homeowners.

There are no cold water meters in the apartment - you will have to pay for heavenly blessings according to the existing tariffs calculated for one person. The prices of housing and communal services, depending on the region, are different and are associated with many factors, while the norms for one / person are the same. Let's try to figure out how to correctly calculate water consumption, whether it is worth using a meter.

Standards for the use of cold water per person without a meter: calculation and statistics

The tariff for the use of water communications, adopted by the government of the Russian Federation and included in the resolution, per month per person provides for:

 • cold / water - 6,000 l;
 • hot - 3,000 liters.

If we divide these indicators by 30, the consumption of water, hot or cold, the coefficient calculated per month relative to 1 person will be:

 • 100 liters per day - hot;
 • 200 liters per day - cold.

The hourly rate is 4.17 / 8.33, respectively.

For comparison, we can give an example, the volume of a bathtub filled to the top is 250 liters. Given the fact that few people take it daily, we can conclude that the existing tariff for ordinary people is too high, even if you use washing equipment daily. That is why, to save money, most apartment owners install a meter. You can find out more here how to happen, in various ways.

How can you reduce the cost of water supply, general house needs when equipping meters

Most of the inhabitants express the opinion that without water meters per person, the monthly mandatory payments for an apartment exceeded all expectations. Installation of equipment is carried out at the expense of the owner of the apartment, but in the end he receives an undeniable benefit.

In residential buildings equipped with one central riser, several meters can be installed: hot and cold water supply. In multi-apartment buildings with two risers, 4 devices will have to be installed: respectively, two for hot water supply, two for cold water, while the amount of work is greater, the tariff will be slightly higher.

Meters for cold and hot water

Is there a need for counters

Is it worth installing a machine? Of course, after all, at least you will have to tinker with it: call an employee of the managing organization or the housing and communal services department to the house to take account (this requirement contains a decree of the ministry). Which will require some material costs. But, as practice has shown, all the costs associated with its installation are fully paid off due to savings on utilities in a couple of months, which include common house needs.

Installation of metering devices will not cause any inconvenience, you will not have to save on the consumption of natural goods, just do not waste them. Even if you use a washing machine every day, do wet cleaning and swim, you won’t be able to spend a large amount of natural benefits.

Water meter installation diagram

For the services that the water utility provides you, you will be able to reduce costs several times over. Most of all, it will be possible to save money in the summer - most go on vacation or to the countryside, here you will have to pay only for general house needs, since the entrance is polluted even without you.

If your apartment does not have an automatic machine for cold and warm water supply, you will have to write an application to the management company and document your absence. There are no problems with control devices - the consumer pays the bills as much as he actually spends. The decree of the ministry regarding the housing and communal services sector also contains this information.

If you still install this equipment, then there are very simple systems, for example, or, which will significantly reduce consumption.

Rate per day per person without meter

The issue of water utility services is of interest to all residents of megacities and small towns. The absence of meters forces the population to pay for the natural benefits supplied by the water utility, according to the established norms of one / person, which vary depending on the subject.

Vodokanal sets a fairly high rate for the general house needs of one / person. In each region, the tariff for cold / warm water supply can vary significantly. And it has nothing to do with the resolution concerning the housing and communal services sector. There is only one reason for this - a different coefficient of consumption of natural goods in a separate populated area.

It is possible to calculate the hourly volume of spending one person / person taking into account a special algorithm created on the basis of a decision by state authorities regarding the housing and communal services sector in various regions of the country. There is no single coefficient for determining the hourly and daily rate of individual consumption, as well as for general house needs.

Analysis of the consumption rate of water supply per person

For those who have not installed the machine, the hourly rate will increase many times over. Such a volume is simply unrealistic to exhaust, even if you use the washing machine several times a day. The coefficient is calculated based on the availability of certain plumbing:

 • toilet
 • washing machine;
 • crane;
 • bathroom.

For owners of private houses with a personal plot, the list was supplemented with the line “for irrigation”.

Average water consumption per person per day

Established consumption rates per person per hour: reality

The tariff established by Russian legislation is significantly overestimated, for example, one / resident of an apartment housing stock in St. Petersburg, the rate / day is:

 • cold / water - 220 liters;
 • hot - 150 liters.

The hourly rate is significant. After all, how much is it necessary to consume a person / hour in order to spend such an amount for which he pays every month. Statistics say that this is impossible, even if you use washing equipment systematically. In addition to this value, the management company adds expenses for general house needs - the maintenance of the adjacent plot and wet cleaning of common areas, this includes environmental pollution.

In addition to consumption rates per person and general house needs, a leak is also added, which often occurs due to poor-quality pipes. Hall consumption. water resources per one / inhabitant of the capital's real estate per day has some differences, due to many existing factors. The average value is 233 and 166 cold / warm water supply, that is, the hourly rate is 9.71 and 6.92 liters, respectively. And this is taking into account the data of unevenness.

Coefficient for heating inside the apartment: accounting for unevenness

If there is no hot water supply in a residential building, then the value of the cold resource consumption coefficient will increase significantly, since it will be heated using a gas or electric column. In these housing stocks, the consumption of natural goods is set at 330 liters per person / day, which is approximately 10230 per month, then the hourly limit is 13.75 liters.

The water machine allows you to significantly reduce the costs associated with paying bills. Its presence allows you to pay for the volume of the hall resource that was actually used up.

Monthly indicators calculated relative to one consumer: decision and analysis

The Ministry of Capital Construction has approved the frequency of use of the sink, toilet bowl, washing machine, bathroom and other appliances that consume the resource. According to their analysis, citizens of the Russian Federation use plumbing fixtures per month the following number of times:

 • bath - 4;
 • toilet - 118;
 • sink - 107;
 • sink in the kitchen - 95;
 • shower - 25;
 • apartment cleaning - 31;
 • for a washing machine - 10.

For the population of the country living in hostels for the needs of one person, it is provided to visit the toilet - 123 times / month, taking a cold shower - 17.

For residents of private households, the norms for using a shower, bath, toilet, for cleaning, including the use of a washing machine, are approved by municipal and regional authorities. The basis for this is statistics and expert analysis. All this and much more is contained in the decree of the Ministry.

In addition, there is a scheme and the most specific coefficient of consumption of utilities. Also, the legislative document provides for a certain number of liters and temperature regime for washing dishes and other needs of citizens - taking a shower or bath, as well as environmental pollution, in accordance with sanitary standards.

For example, one bath consumes about 300 liters of resource at a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, one shower takes about 100 liters, and 6 liters for flushing a toilet tank.

Accounting for these indicators is calculated relative to one / person registered in a private household or apartment, and is not related to the size of the area that he occupies.

The data established by the ministry must be applied without fail when calculating the quantitative indicator of the consumption of natural benefits. But in fact, they act on 50% of the citizens of the Russian Federation - namely, those who have not installed an automatic machine.

Accounting and analysis of consumption of private households: we take into account the coefficient of unevenness and pollution of nature

Daily statistics on the use of the earth's interior is a variable indicator that constantly changes not only from seasonal fluctuations, the time of year, but also other circumstances in which environmental pollution is also taken into account. Vodokanal keeps records using the non-uniformity factor. It is used together with the indicator of the number of residents living in the house and the SNiP standards (which include environmental pollution), included in the relevant resolution.

The calculation of housing and communal services includes an analysis not only of the actually consumed drinking liquid every day, but also the coefficient established by the medical services (pollution), as well as the amount of subsoil used for cooking. The definition of expenses for household needs also includes accounting for the costs of cleaning, personal needs and watering the garden plot.

The Decree of the Ministry regarding the housing and communal services sector contains the calculation of the indicator, which is taken as a basis in many regions of Russia, if a citizen does not have a meter, and therefore he cannot make an hourly accounting of the cold service that the water utility provided to him:

 • accounting for subsoil consumption per unit every day 2-3 liters;
 • coefficient determined during cooking per person - 3,000 ml;
 • daily unit, taking into account personal needs 6,000 - 8,000 ml;
 • 15,000 ml is intended for flushing the toilet;
 • for washing, taking into account the washing machine, the hourly coefficient will be 4.16 liters.

With regard to these indicators of the norm, which contains a resolution on the housing and communal services sector, an hourly coefficient of unevenness is applied, which also includes accounting for the availability of heating equipment, as well as pollution of natural resources. If there is an internal sewerage and water supply system, as well as hot liquid, the hourly rate will be 1.15 cubic meters. That is why most owners of private households install a meter, which saves a lot of money.

How can the volume of flow be reduced due to the cross section of the pipe?

Is it possible to calculate the consumption of a natural resource as simply as possible, given the diameter of the pipe? Or the only right decision is to seek help from a specialist, having previously sketched out a detailed water supply scheme in a given area. After all, it is really quite difficult to make a calculation. The most important thing is to decide how much liquid the pipes can pass. Why is it necessary for the owner of a private house:

When independently determining the size of the water pipe. The scheme is simple - if the consumer plans to build a large private household with several bathrooms, a small guest house, plan a fire extinguishing system - you should have information about how much liquid pipes of a certain diameter can pass under a certain pressure force.

A strong fall of water is unlikely to appeal to the inhabitants. And a small, barely flowing stream from a hose will be completely useless when extinguishing a fire. It is thanks to the cross section of the pipe that the cold / water supply force and its pollution are regulated.

Fittings for metal-plastic pipes have a narrower section, which reduces the permeability of water

And here is the most important and interesting nuance in this article. If an automatic machine that controls the consumption of the resource is not installed, the public utilities bill the companies “from the pipeline capacity”. And who wants to pay for nothing? Of course, no one, that's why special attention is paid to the pipe section when arranging the water supply system!

The best solution is still to install the machine! This will greatly simplify relations with utilities and reduce costs. For consumers who do not have devices that control the volume of services provided by the water utility, increased coefficients will be applied, taking into account unevenness. Utility bills will rise gradually to increase by 60%, which will significantly hit the pocket of the common man, and not only.

This measure, as the ministry explains, is aimed at encouraging citizens to equip their living quarters with meters. In addition, Deputy Minister, explained that the document also spelled out the sanctions that will be taken against the population interfering with the operation of metering devices, thereby distorting the reliability of the testimony. In that case, there is only one scheme - if the fact of human fraud is revealed, then the owners of the premises will pay for the service not on the basis of equipment data, but after the calculation of the established coefficients.

The legislative framework

For a long time, water meters have entered our lives, which measure the amount of hot and cold water consumed. The device helps to avoid overpayments. The owner pays the amount only for the consumed resource. However, not everyone equipped the apartment according to the new rules.

Some houses still do not have metering devices installed. In this case, the utility fee is calculated differently - based on the rate of resource consumption per person.

The rules for the provision of utilities, including the supply of cold and hot water, are regulated by Government Decree N354 of May 6, 2011. It is on the basis of it that the utility fee for the services provided is calculated.

Nothing has changed in thirty years. Water consumption and waste disposal standards remain at the same level. They vary depending on the type of building. The cost of providing services is set by regional authorities. However, at the same time, they are obliged to comply with the Federal Law of the Russian Federation N 210 of July 27, 2010.

Attention! Our qualified lawyers will assist you free of charge and around the clock on any issues.

The rate of consumption of cold water per person without a meter

In 1988, the standards for the consumption of hot and cold water, as well as sanitation, were approved. The cost directly depends on them. To this day, the figures have remained unchanged. However, regional authorities have the right to adjust the price according to the economic mood of the region.

Thus, in accordance with the legislation, 6.935 m3 of cold water falls on one person. That is, according to averaged data, one person per month consumes the specified amount of the resource.

Please note! When recalculating the cost of utilities rendered, the company has the right to double the standard.

The norm is calculated for a reason, it includes the basic needs of a person related to water consumption:

 • 15-30 l. water for showering, washing;
 • 200 l. - taking a bath once a week;
 • 200 l. water for general household needs, such as brushing teeth, washing dishes, drinking, etc.;
 • 260 l. - for the operation of the toilet, as a rule, according to verified data, it is this amount of the resource that goes to waste;
 • 800 l. per year for other needs not described in the regulations.

If a meter is not installed in the apartment, it does not make sense for the owner to save water. He pays according to the average data for each person registered here.

The formula for calculating the utility bill is as follows:

Kp = Kch * Np * T, where:

 • T - the tariff set for the region.

For example, if 4 people live in an apartment, and the tariff for the region is 10 rubles, then the cost of the service will be: 4 * 6.935 * 10 = 277.4 rubles, regardless of how much resource is actually consumed per month.

If the property is equipped with a device for measuring fluid consumption, then a person pays for each cube of water used, so it is worth monitoring the waste of resources. As a rule, the cost of 1 m3 is from 8 to 30 rubles, depending on the region.

The rate of consumption of hot water per person without a meter

According to reliable statistics, a person consumes much less hot water than cold. That is why in 1988 the generally accepted norm was 4.745 m3. It is believed that one person per month consumes exactly this amount of heated liquid.

Upon detection of unmetered consumption of hot water, utilities are forced to recalculate. At the same time, they have the full right to increase the standard, but not more than twice.

Thus, if the owner has not installed a water consumption meter, and the utilities are notified about this, then he will pay according to average indicators. But if a person turned off the meter on his own, or broke it, then the amount of utility bills will be recalculated for the last six months, taking into account the standards doubled.

Important! If the apartment does not have a water meter, 5 people are registered in it, but no one has lived in it for a long period, utilities will calculate the amount payable for each registered person. It does not matter to them whether the owner consumed water during the billing period.

However, according to the approved standards, despite the amount of water consumed by a person, it is considered that one person spends 140 liters of hot liquid per day.

Thus, if people living in an apartment use less hot water per day, they should install a meter to avoid overpayments.

However, if residents like to use a large amount of a resource every day, then the non-accounting method of calculation is just right for them.

Water discharge standards per person

Previously, utilities installed metering devices for each house, which displayed the general consumption data of all owners. Then the accounted amount was divided among all owners in equal shares. This method is considered unfair, because each person consumes water in different volumes. Someone overpays, and someone, on the contrary, underpays.

In addition, the old centralized lines were failing. There were leaks in some places. In this case, the entire amount of lost fluid was also distributed among the residents. However, now everything has changed.

Now everyone knows what he pays for. It will not be possible to hang other people's debts to public utilities on an innocent owner.

In addition to water consumption, standards for water disposal have been established. According to the latest data, the indicator stopped at the level of 11.68 m3 per month.

As with water consumption, wastewater standards can be doubled. However, the overestimation of the norm is explained by actual evidence. For example, if unmetered water consumption is recorded, and much more people live in the apartment than prescribed, and this is not difficult to prove.

Attention! If utilities constantly raise tariffs, standards, which happens unreasonably, residents have the right to apply to the court or the district prosecutor's office.

Average monthly water consumption per person: statistics, consumption rate analysis

Actual consumption figures cannot be calculated from averaged data. One person consumes only 2 m3, while the other consumes a resource at the level of 15 m3. The average in this case will be 8.5 m3.

It is unfair that for the second the indicator decreased, and for the second it increased. A difference of more than 6 m3 is noticeable.

That is why it was decided to pay attention to the following factors when calculating averages:

 • static data in the region on water consumption per person, which are collected and summarized by local authorities;
 • statistical data collected throughout Russia;
 • statistics for recent years of meter readings taken.

In addition, third-party indicators also affect the overall average standard.

These primarily include:

 • climate in a particular region of the country;
 • isolation of the apartment, technical household condition;
 • availability and serviceability of all equipment intended for the implementation of the service;
 • time period (winter, summer, autumn, spring).

Remember! If we take into account the above factors, the consumption standards will be:

 • from 125 to 150 liters of water if the room is not equipped with a bathroom;
 • from 160 to 230 liters of hot water, if the apartment is equipped with a bathroom, but heating is carried out by special devices, for example, a boiler;
 • from 230 to 350 liters of hot water inputs, if the dwelling is equipped with a bathroom with a central heating system.

Usually, when recalculating, utilities reduce or increase the specified standard depending on the absence or presence of household appliances:

 • from 12% to 20% - a middle-class power dishwashing machine;
 • from 5% to 10% - automatic washing machine;
 • from 5% to 10% - the presence or absence of a tank designed for draining, what the toilet bowl is equipped with, its cost also affects the indicator;
 • from 2% to 3% - the presence or absence of a saving tap.

If the equipment in the apartment is faulty, for example, a tap is leaking, then water consumption increases:

 • from 100 to 250 liters in case of malfunction of taps;
 • from 250 to 650 liters in case of a malfunction of the drain barrel.

If the utility employee does not notice the malfunction, then the recalculation will not be made. However, this does not exempt from liability.

Tariff for water supply and sanitation per day per person, if there is no device

In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, the establishment of tariffs for water consumption rests with the regional authorities. However, the procedure is approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

For example, in Moscow and the Moscow Region, tariffs are recalculated on July 1. Similar rules apply to other regions of the country.

Thus, according to the latest data, tariffs for hot water consumption in Moscow and the Moscow Region are set at the following level:

 • 35.4 rubles / 1m3 - cold water;
 • RUB 173.0 / 1m3 - hot water;
 • RUB 25.12 / 1m3 - water disposal.

Please note! However, the low level of tariffs does not satisfy the owners. After all, when calculating utility bills, increasing coefficients are used that can increase the total cost of services several times.

Norm and tariff of water consumption by cities

Each region has its own standards for the consumption of hot and cold water. It depends on different climatic conditions, the mentality of people, as well as the economic condition of the entire region.

There is a table that reflects all the indicators used in the calculation of unmetered water consumption. They are used to calculate the cost of utilities for serviced apartment buildings, as well as private cottages that are equipped with cold and hot water supply and sanitation.

Note! Tariffs in different companies differ from each other. The Government of the Russian Federation has not approved uniform prices for water supply and sanitation.

About multiplying factors

At the legislative level, a decision was made to introduce multiplying coefficients when calculating the utility fee for unmetered water consumption. Thus, apartment owners who have not installed metering equipment will pay much more.

Similar rules were introduced in 2017. They are aimed at encouraging citizens to install information reading devices. It should be noted that the standards have been introduced not only for water meters, but also for meters of consumed gas and electric energy. Management companies are required to install devices that measure generalized indicators.

Tariffs for those who have not installed special devices for metering water consumption are increased by one and a half times, compared to those who decide to equip an apartment in accordance with the accepted rules.

The formula used to calculate utility bills is modified, one more coefficient is added to it:

Kp = Kch * Np * T * Kf, where

 • Kp - the amount of the utility bill for water according to averaged data;
 • Kch - the number of registered persons in this living space;
 • T is the tariff set for the region;
 • Kf is a multiplying factor established by regions and amounting to 1.7.

For example, if there are no meters installed in the apartment, 5 people are registered in it, and only one lives, the tariffs for the region are 10 rubles, then he is obliged to pay monthly for cold water: 6.935 * 5 * 10 * 1.7 = 589.48 rubles .

ATTENTION! Look at the completed sample application for the installation and sealing of the meter:

Calculation of the rate of water consumption

Important! The tariffs used for payment are set by the regional authorities. However, the calculation procedure is approved at the legislative level.

The following important factors have been taken into account:

 • average resource consumption standards for a particular house;
 • the tariff adopted by the regional authorities for 1 m3 of water;
 • boost factor.

The increase factor is applied to those apartment owners who have the technical ability to install equipment, but for some reason do not do it.

It should be noted that when calculating the total amount of utility bills, benefits are applied for low-income families, pensioners, as well as families with three or more children.

If there are no metering devices in the dwelling, water consumption per person per day is calculated in accordance with the standards established by local administrative authorities. In a similar way, the norms of water disposal are calculated.

Every month, residents of multi-apartment and private houses receive services. In the receipts you can find the column "water disposal".

What is the daily water consumption per person?

This concept often means sewage, which is not entirely true. The water used by man, before getting into the sewer pipes, is cleaned and disposed of - this is the water disposal.

Norms are set depending on the region in which the person lives. For example, a resident of the southern regions pays more for a water disposal service than a northerner.

The degree of improvement of the living quarters also affects:

 1. the presence / absence of a bathroom;
 2. centralized heating;
 3. water heater;
 4. devices designed to save, etc.

To date, the norm of water disposal is almost 11.7 cubic meters per person per month. In this case, the temperature of the consumed water does not matter - both hot and cold are taken into account.

This indicator can be doubled, but only on condition that the company providing the service presents documents that confirm the need for an increase.

Each resident has the right to request documentary justification, and apply to the court, if there is none. As practice shows, the chance to restore justice is small, but still exists. The judiciary in most cases take the side of public utilities.

Previously, the rules were calculated differently. A common house water meter was installed in an apartment building. At the end of the month, readings were taken. The number of cubic meters spent by residents who have a water meter in the apartment was subtracted from the readings of the common house meter. The resulting figure was distributed among the remaining apartments - this was the norm.

It is not entirely fair to calculate the rate in this way, since the expenditure of resources is uneven - in one apartment, a family consisting of 5 people uses the service, and in another - from 2.

Water consumption per person per day

To determine how much water a resident of an apartment building approximately consumes, the following factors must be taken into account:

 • consumption norms that apply in any region of Russia;
 • consumption norms set by local authorities;
 • how much water (according to the meter) a family with the same number of people consumes.

It was mentioned above that the standard is set depending on the region where a person lives, respectively, the season also affects the volume of water consumption: in summer - higher, in winter - lower.

If the apartment has serviceable household appliances and plumbing (an economical faucet, a flush tank for a toilet bowl, etc.), a person saves water, respectively, the consumption rate can be reduced.

The flow rate of the consumed liquid, on the contrary, increases when the equipment passes water, the faucet or the toilet bowl is leaking. If this fact is identified and documented by an employee of a housing organization, the consumption rate per person may be increased.

People pay for cold, hot water supply according to the tariffs set by local authorities.

In apartments where metering equipment is not listed, the cost of used water is calculated as follows:

 • instead of readings from an apartment water meter, they take average indicators of the use of household services (separately for hot and cold water);
 • multiply by the tariff for one cubic meter;
 • and, if available, the multiplying factor is taken into account.

The multiplying factor, as a rule, is applied to those tenants who are not involved in the installation, although they have such an opportunity. But the state cannot be deceived - water overspending is paid accordingly.

What is the daily water consumption per person?

In addition to the fact that water is used for personal needs (hygienic procedures, washing, washing dishes, cooking, etc.), the owner needs to water the green spaces adjacent to the house - a garden, a kitchen garden.

Water consumption increases if a private house has a swimming pool and other benefits of civilization.

Noticed:

 • if you continuously use water for an hour, then a person will use up about six cubic meters of liquid;
 • for watering green spaces adjacent to the house, about two cubic meters of water are required;
 • watering the garden, in one hour the summer resident consumes up to four cubes of liquid.

These data are approximate, calculated for houses with standard equipment and conventional engineering networks.

Calculation of water costs in multi-apartment residential buildings

Each person consumes a different amount of water per day. It can be calculated using the formula:

Volume per day per person = the value of the estimated number of inhabitants * the value of specific water consumption / 1000

In addition, there are adjustment factors for residents of cities with larger and smaller populations.

In order not to fill people's heads with unnecessary figures and indicators, a consumption standard has been created, which is taken into account when paying utility bills. When there is no metering device, charges are made based on the number of officially registered residents.

If, for example, a water heater is installed in the apartment, the excess water consumption for this equipment is distributed equally among all those registered. Accordingly, the more tenants are registered, the higher the payment for water supply and sanitation will be.

on the water

If the residents of the apartment postpone the installation of water meters, unnecessary expenses are unlikely to be avoided. The standards are set for each house separately, or the average water consumption is calculated according to the data of a particular microdistrict.

You can offer every resident of a high-rise building who does not have a water meter not to waste excess water, but it is unlikely that everyone will agree to abide by this rule.

Sometimes people try to prove in court that the introduction of a multiplying factor is unreasonable, but in practice, few achieve the desired result.

Some residents install special devices that save water. But even such "tricks" do not affect the numbers indicated in the receipt. This is because accruals are made based on the number of people registered in the apartment.

The best way to reduce this expense item is to install a fluid meter. Then you will pay only for those cubic meters that you actually spent. No one will look at the number of registered in the given territory, no one will have to pay for the water used by the neighbor.

For information! If in an apartment building the majority of tenants “save” water resources with special devices, then the rest of the tenants overpay for the overspending of the service in excess of the norm. Such rules are established by regional governments.

Legal Ways to Reduce Water Consumption

To save as much water as possible, you must adhere to the following rules.

Install tools to save money. These include:

 1. special nozzles for cranes;
 2. aerators that are put on shower heads and thus reduce water consumption;
 3. two-button drain systems, which are equipped with barrels.

If the house has household appliances or plumbing that leaks water, you need to urgently fix it. This applies to:

 • a dishwasher that is out of order and constantly leaking;
 • continuously dripping faucets;
 • a toilet bowl into which water flows in a thin stream, etc.

It will not be superfluous to get a modern model of a washing machine. Such an “assistant”, in addition to high-quality washing, will save. To wash clothes, the machine takes half as much water as the old automatic machines.

You will have to introduce new habits:

 • turn off the faucet (for example, when washing dishes with dishwashing detergent, washing in the shower, while brushing your teeth, etc.);
 • give preference to bathing in the shower, i.e. fill the bath with water in rare cases;
 • reduce the time of "water procedures".

Sometimes people do not use hot water at all or save it with the help of a stove - they heat the liquid as needed.

Advantages and disadvantages of a water meter

On this issue, people's opinions differ. At first glance, it may seem that the benefits are obvious.

Water supply and sewerage systems must be designed and thought out at the initial stage of building a country house.

The norms of water consumption per person play an important role in the design of sewerage and water supply systems. Water costs, both hot and cold, are taken into account when arranging the above-mentioned systems in the house.

Advice! The system should be designed at the rate of 200 liters per person per day.

What is the basis for accounting for water consumption in a private house

Water consumption per person is set by state enterprises. In different regions of the country, indicators of water use may differ. It depends on such factors as: climatic conditions in a particular region, as well as technological conditions for water supply. Norms for the use of water are set by local authorities or the water utility.

Water use standards depends on the needs for which the liquid is used. The calculation of water includes the cost of drinking, technical, water for irrigation of the estate, for heating and domestic needs. That is why the calculations also include the conditions of sewerage, water supply, etc. Also, when calculating consumption rates, they take into account water consumption per hour, day and season.

For example, if there is water supply inside the house, sewerage and centralized water supply, in each region the water consumption per inhabitant can vary from 16 to 250 liters, these figures also depend on the season and the condition of the water supply.

From the above figures, we can conclude that the average daily water consumption of 1 person is approximately 190-200 liters. It is worth noting that such factors as the number of washbasins in the house, the presence of a bath or shower, etc. can affect water consumption. from 150 to 190 liters.

Another factor in calculating water is the presence of a garden or plant area near the house. If there is such a plot, then the water consumption also includes the cost of irrigation.

You can get calculations for water consumption in the authorities that are responsible for water supply and the state of sewerage. Such instances are housing and communal enterprises, which are responsible for the uninterrupted supply of water and the operation of the sewer system.

It is worth noting that building codes and regulations will help determine the load on sewer systems and determine water consumption rates. These building codes or (SNiP) are the main document by which local authorities calculate water consumption rates for each person or family.

Water consumption rates

Water consumption rates are a variable factor, as it can change depending on the time of year, season, time of day, and many other factors. Therefore, the calculation of water is carried out taking into account the coefficient of unevenness, as well as the norms of SNiP and the number of people living in a particular house.

Drinking water consumption is calculated in relation to two indicators: the amount of drinking water that each person needs and the liquid needed for cooking. Household water costs are calculated from such factors as: the amount of water consumed for cleaning, watering, hygiene needs.

Standards for water consumption, which are accepted in most regions:

 • Consumption of drinking water for each person 2-3 liters per day;
 • The amount of water needed for cooking for 1 person is 3 liters;
 • The daily need for water for hygiene procedures is up to 10 liters per 1 person living in the house;
 • If the house has a bathroom, then the water consumption per person is about 150 liters;
 • If the house has a shower, then the amount of water is calculated according to the duration of the washing procedure (15-20 liters / minute), so 10 minutes in the shower = 200 liters of water per day;
 • The cost of flushing the toilet is approximately 15-20 liters;
 • The required amount of water for washing dishes is 8-12 liters for each person living in the house;
 • It takes about 100 liters to wash clothes and linen every day.

Of course, this list did not include other household needs, such as the cost of washing vehicles, filling the pool, aquarium, watering the garden, etc. As a rule, these costs are included in the coefficient of hourly unevenness.

Worth noticing that this ratio also includes the cost of heating, sewerage, and water flow systems. Under various conditions, the presence or absence of hot water, a bath or a column, the water consumption can range from 1.1 to 1.3 cubic meters of water per hour.

Also, water calculations include the cost of fire extinguishing, since this factor is periodic, the calculation principles are based on the design and materials from which the room is built and such factors as the location of the fire and the water supply system.

The presence of a bath or shower in the house directly affects the amount of water consumed. In houses where there is sewerage and running water, but no bathroom, the amount of water consumed per person is about 95-100 liters per day. If the house has a bathroom and water heaters, then the amount of water consumed per person per day increases to 200 liters.

Useful information! The amount of water consumed in a house with a bath depends on the water heaters, depending on what they use to heat the water, its consumption may fluctuate.

In a house with a shower, water consumption is much higher and amounts to approximately 250 liters per person per day. It is worth noting that this figure may also vary depending on how long a person takes a shower.
