How to send emails?

Sending letters is a fairly important part of any blog, since caring for your readers has a return that will always be present in the form of traffic. All this activity stretches far from antiquity, where the first mailing was carried out by pigeons, and after that the postal organizations. It is with the help of the mailing list that the reader can find out the most relevant news, and for you to create additional traffic that will be targeted.

Mailing of letters should be carried out only with the consent of the user and provide a really high-quality mailing list, and not "throwing" the entire mailbox of the reader with repeated letters. Otherwise, you can quickly lose your subscribers and remain without an audience, which will be quite insulting. That is why you should offer the subscriber only the most relevant news (if there are a lot of them), or divide letters into certain categories and offer them in blocks of interest.

It is not as easy to implement the mailing of letters as we would like, due to the fact that the fight against spam in mail accounts has been going on for a long time. If the letter is spam or does not have identifying elements, then your message simply will not reach the user, falling under the filter of the mail service. In addition, you need to think about the moment of mass sending letters (if there are more than 5000 subscribers, it will be already interesting).

Creating a mailing list with MailPoet

The choice of plugins for WordPress is quite extensive at the moment and each of them can hardly be called good or bad - they all have their good and bad sides. I found my perfect plugin, which I really can call good and quality - for good reason. - flexible and very high quality, with a lot of thoughtful little things, which are very pleasant to please.

The installation process is standard: Installation, Activation, and proceed to configure it. Unlike other plugins, our plugin will be located directly in the WordPress menu:

Setting up MailPoet

The first step is to go to the plugin settings. There are tons of options for configuring MailPoet - it is a very flexible plugin indeed. First of all, let's move on to "General":

  • Your company's address - it is mandatory to enter, as this is one of the guarantors of avoiding falling under the mail filter;
  • Address for notifications - use any mailbox convenient for you and indicate what kind of notifications should come;
  • Sender of notifications - indicate from whose address to send letters;
  • Subscription registration form - specify the text to confirm the subscription and select lists;
  • Unsubscribe page - a specially dedicated page for the possibility of self-unsubscribing of the user;

When you go to the "Form", you will be able to independently create a subscription form, of which, by the way, there can be several:

As you can see, this is a very simple constructor that offers preset forms. By dragging and dropping them, you can create the required subscription form template with all the necessary data.

When you go to "Confirmation of registration", you can customize the template of the letter that is sent to the registrar's address in order to confirm the correctness of the entered mail and the user's desire to subscribe to the newsletter of letters. It is possible to disable this function - here the choice is yours:

When you open the "Send from ..." tab, you can configure the address from which the letter will be sent. This can be either a regular mail account or via SMTP (if there is a large number of subscribers). In addition, it is possible to customize the message delivery method (choose php better). The bonus is the security of the account, the purpose of which is to limit the number of letters within a certain period of time, so as not to get blocked.

In the "Advanced" tab, you can configure the technical aspects of the mailing service:

  • Permissions - restrict or open access to other users;
  • Name and address - we indicate the name of the sender and his address (our address, which we want to provide to the user in the letter);
  • Profile editing by subscribers - the ability of the user to independently edit their profile and subscription lists;

That's all the settings!

Create a mailing list

Working with subscribers

The developers paid enough attention to working with subscribers, including editing or adding them. To view your subscribers, just go to the WordPress menu: MailPoet> Subscribers. The functionality cannot be called meager - everything that you can think of is implemented and works perfectly:

The opportunity is given:

  • add a subscriber;
  • add a list;
  • edit lists;
  • import;
  • export.

All the necessary tools for working with subscribers of various sizes are there, and here it is worth saying a big thank you to the developer.

conclusions

This is how you can create a very high quality newsletter and blog subscription form on WordPress. Of course, many people prefer the mailing list, contrary to modern counterparts in the form of social networks. No one will be against high-quality mailing of letters, but many people are impressed by the advantages of such a free service. Do not forget that for you, as a webmaster, this is a great way to attract website visitors who have appreciated your work as they deserve - why not added value ?!

Friends, I welcome you to my blog again! After the closure of the smartresponder, everyone began to look for what service to replace it with. Options, as they say, are a dime a dozen and one is better than the other, I personally switched to Mailer, but all services are paid. A great free alternative is the wordpress newsletter.

Having your own mailing service is cool, and you don't have to pay anyone. You create a subscription page yourself, collect subscribers, set up your own automatic mailing list.

And so, let's get started. First you need install pl agin MailPoet Newsletters. Copy its name, go to your site's WordPress admin panel, hover over the plugins, then “add new”, insert MailPoet Newsletters into the search, then “install” - “activate”.

That's it, the plugin is installed, now you need to configure it for the wordpress newsletter to work for you. You can see that MailPoet has appeared in the menu, hover over it and in the menu that opens, first select the settings.

On the page that opens, there will be a video instruction in English and a button under it, click on it and get access to the settings. Here you need to fill in the following tabs: basic, forms, confirmation of registration, send with ..., additionally, additions.

In the main ones, fill in the address, mail, choose when to send you notifications. I checked the boxes to receive messages when someone unsubscribes from my mailing list and who subscribes.

Write the sender of notifications in Latin letters, this name will be seen by people when they receive bulk mailings from you. Then I put a tick in the checkbox "link to browser version".

Then comes the text so that the person can unsubscribe from you. Come up with something original, if you like, I left the standard version.

Now it's time to create an unsubscribe page. To do this, simply create a page for yourself, call it an unsubscribe page and do not put it in the site menu. And here, where your wordpress newsletter is configured, select this page, that's all.

The next button in the settings is called "forms". This is where you create a subscription form to install on your site. The form is very simple, everything is clear here. First, click on "create a new form", then customize it as you want, all fields are easy to edit, the texts are changed.

After the form is ready, save it by clicking on the appropriate button and then at the bottom under the button click on HTML, I show it somewhere in the picture. You are given a code that you insert into the widgets so that the subscription form appears on the site. How to insert code into widgets, read in detail in the article, “ how to install ads on the site».

Guys, as you can see, there is absolutely nothing complicated here, just do everything carefully and take your time. Let's go further, go to the "registration confirmation" tab.

Then comes the confirmation page. We do it simply by creating a page on our site, just do not put it in the menu. Here, in the settings of the mailing plugin, select the page that was created specifically for this. And save the settings.

Go to the next tab, which is called "send from ...", here you can choose to send your wordpress newsletter either from your mail, or from the mailing service, if you have one. To do this, choose either "from your site" or "third party".

Then we choose the delivery method, I chose PHP Mail. Then you need to write a mail, where the test letter will come and finally the most important thing. Select the number of emails to be sent at one time. I recommend choosing no more than 30 letters and a 30 minute interval between messages.

If you send large batches of letters, your mail will be blocked, so it's better not to risk it and set up how I write, let the mailing take a long time, but it's free and reliable.

Scroll down and in the settings that appear, we forbid subscribers to edit anything and save. Go to the menu on the left to "mailing", I show in the picture where it is located.

Here you create your wordpress mailing list, to do this, click on the "create new" button. Start by choosing whether you want a standard mailing or an automatic one. Automatic is the setting of a series of letters with which you will maneuver your base. In other words, your subscribers will be automatically sent business or buy offers.

It is very easy to create letters on this plugin, the only thing that I did not immediately understand was how to add pictures to an email letter. And to do this, you just need to first add a picture by clicking on the "pictures" button on the right, and then drag this picture to the place where you want to install it.

After the creation of the letter is completed, save it and go to the next step, these buttons are at the very bottom. And at the final step, you just need to check what you got, you can even send yourself a test letter by clicking on the "send preview" button.

Once you have checked everything and made sure that the wordpress newsletter is configured correctly, click on the "submit" button. That's all!

Friends, that's basically all, it won't be difficult for you to set up all this, and when you sit and climb in this WordPress plugin for a little longer, you will be perfectly familiar with it.

Guys, by tradition, go to " contests"And try to change 5 rubles for 10 thousand rubles, everything is real and honest, I will be glad if you succeed.

Follow my blog, because I am constantly posting very useful information, and it is better to subscribe to receive the most interesting articles by mail. And another request, go over the icons of social networks that are now in front of you.

In this article, you will learn how to use the Mailster plugin to create a free email newsletter on your WordPress site. The plugin allows you to conduct full-fledged emails, just like other specialized services.

The newsletter can work through Gmail, SMTP server, or a third-party web service, for example, AmazonSES. The plug-in settings allow increasing the email deliverability up to 98%, that is, emails almost never end up in spam. This is ensured by prescribing special SPF, DMARK and DKIM records in the DNS of the domain to which your email is connected, on behalf of which the mailing is carried out.

Plugin features:

  1. Tracking clicks in letters and unsubscriptions;
  2. Shows the location of the subscriber;
  3. Campaign planning;
  4. Six types of answering machine;
  5. Automatic distribution of new posts on the site;
  6. Dynamic and customizable custom tags;
  7. Web version of the letter;
  8. Shortcodes for embedding a subscription form;
  9. Insert into letter;
  10. Sidebar widgets;
  11. Single or Double-Opt-in subscription;
  12. WYSIWYG Editor;
  13. Unlimited Color Variations;
  14. Image embedding;
  15. Inline styles;
  16. Support for background images;
  17. Quick preview of the letter;
  18. Revision support;
  19. Mailing via SMTP;
  20. Database import / export.

Service tariffs where free email distribution is possible

Rates are not very cheap, especially if you are a beginner and just starting to build your business. On many services, at first, you can use free mailing of letters, but then, when your subscriber base begins to grow, in any case, you will have to fork out.

The Mailster plugin, which will be discussed in this article, sends emails for free and with a high probability of hitting your inbox. For this plugin, you pay only once, and the rest of the time you use it for free. So let's take a look at the prices that the services offer.

Mail.ru for business

Sendpulse.com

Massdelivery.ru

The list goes on, but for me and for many other people, Mailchimp.com is a great start to a business. You can collect your subscriber base, and at first do not worry about paying, and by the time the subscriber base reaches 2 thousand, then paying $ 10 per month will seem like a trifle to you.

But there is one drawback, this service is completely in English and for many it is a serious hindrance. There was a time when I wanted to write an article about Mailchimp, but I never got around to it. In a couple of hours, you can study the main tools of this service, and learn how to freely create both mailings and subscription forms.

Free WordPress email newsletter - settings

There are a lot of settings, so I will not consider all of them. After installing the plugin, you need to configure the delivery of letters: via Gmail, SMTP or in a simple way, through the functions of the plugin itself.

But in order not to mess around for a long time and check how it works, you can choose Gmail. In this case, you will need to enter your email address and password from it.

But Gmail has limitations, and you can send no more than 500 letters per day. Plus, mailing can take a long time. Therefore, if you have a subscriber base of more than 500 people, and you need fast delivery, then connect to SMTP, or a third-party service, but more on that later.

You can check out how this plugin works right now by following this link. You will be taken to the WordPress admin panel, where you can see all the plugin settings and the interface itself, although everything is in English

To connect to SMTP, you need to create a mailbox on your hosting through which mailing will be carried out. You also need to add TXT records for the SPF Domain and the mailster.domainkey subdomain. In short, these settings affect the delivery of letters, otherwise all letters will go to spam, and Gmail will add a warning "Be careful!" To each letter.

We continue to consider the functionality of the settings. It is possible to enable mail delivery by time zone for all subscribers. This feature works if the location is known. Another function of tracking IP and the time when the person signed up.

In the tag settings, you can change permanent and custom tags. For example, if you add the (address) tag to an email, it will display the address that you specify in the settings, or it can display any other text.

The tag shown in this example refers to permanent, since it cannot be changed. But there are also custom tags that you can create and edit. For example, you can create a tag (podarok) that will display a text reminding you of an upcoming promotion, or of some kind of competition, for participation in which you can receive a valuable gift.

Subscriber base import and export

If you have a subscriber base, then you can import it to your site. Just don't spam. For example, you found a database somewhere, downloaded it, and then decided to send out spam. It will definitely end badly and your domain will quickly get blacklisted.

Even earlier, I connected my site to the Feedburner service, and the newsletter went to all my subscribers through this service. And not so long ago, I decided to abandon this service, downloaded my subscriber base there, and now I send announcements of new articles through the Mailster plugin.

It can be configured, and all new articles will be sent automatically, but I do everything manually, because you can write yourself short and to the point, without any preludes. If in the mailing list through the Feedburner service, people in the letters clicked only a few times, now the letters open more fun and follow the links more.

Creating a simple WordPress newsletter

Create a new campaign and give it a name;

Write the subject line and subtitle;

The side section contains settings for managing the mailing list:

  1. Set the dispatch time, if necessary;
  2. Receive a test letter to any email;
  3. Check the letter for spam;
  4. Selecting a list of subscribers;
  5. Change the color scheme of the letter.

In fact, the settings in the picture above are on the side, in one vertical column, but here I placed them horizontally so that they would look more compact in the article.

That's all there was to set up for a quick mailing. Click "Send now" and watch the statistics.

Automatic WordPress mailing

Everything is the same here as in the simple mailing list, with the exception of additional settings.

Here you need to set the time of sending the first letter after a person subscribes to the mailing list. You can also create a letter for those cases when a person unsubscribes from the mailing list. In this letter, you can suggest something else, for example, subscribe to something else.

Thus, we create a separate thread for each subscriber list. But it is not necessary to create every letter anew. You can just make a copy of the first letter, and then change the title, time of sending, and the text of the letter itself.

Create a subscription form

Creating a subscription form is as easy as anything else. There are three sections: adding fields; design and installation. In the first setup, you can add or remove additional fields for the form. This is sometimes useful when you need to know more information about a new client. Each field can be designated as required.

In the design settings, you can change the color of the form and its size.

In the same place, you can add CSS styles.

In the "settings" section, you can set up redirects after a person has subscribed to the mailing list or unsubscribed. You can also enable the function so that the person receives a second email to confirm the subscription if he did not see the first one.

♦ Shortcode or PHP (can be installed only on the site where the plugin is installed);

♦ Button;

The button can be set using HTML or shortcode.

♦ HTML code of the form (can be installed on external sites).

♦ Iframe code (can also be installed on an external site).

Additional plugins for Mailster

There are 24 more add-ons for the Mailster plugin, and any of them can be installed in the admin panel of your site. You can also select and buy additional email templates. But if you want to, you can change the HTML code and free template to make it more attractive.

How do I connect to AmazonSES email marketing service?

It is possible to connect to an external mailing service for free, for example, AmazonSES, although there are others. This option removes the need for SMTP settings, but there are some limitations.

You can send no more than 62,000 letters per month for free, and for exceeding the limit, you will have to pay an additional $ 0.10 for each 1,000. The services of AmazonSES are used by such companies as Siemens, Vodofone, Allergan and some others.

To connect to the service, you need to install the optional Mailster AmazonSES Integration plugin on your site. Next, you need to register on this service and connect a bank card. This is necessary in case the limit is exceeded. That's all there is to write about free WordPress email newsletters.

Plugin cost

The Mailster plug-in can be bought online for $ 59 with technical support for six months, and if you want to extend the technical support assistance to 12 months, you will have to pay an additional $ 20. This is a one-time price, and you never have to pay extra for anything else. Everything would be fine, I paid and forgot, but this plugin is not translated into Russian.

There is also another option. You can order this plugin from me for 640 rubles... After payment, you will receive a link and you can download the latest version of the plugin with video instructions for installing and configuring it. You do not pay for the plugin, but only for its translation, plus setup instructions.

On the Internet, you can find where they offer the creation of a newsletter service on a WordPress site, all with the same plugins, but at a price of 5,000 to 15,000 rubles.

Everyone probably knows how to create a newsletter on your own blog using third-party services. But not every blogger (especially a beginner) knows that it is possible to do this without resorting to their help. The possibilities of WordPress are much wider than it might seem at first glance.

It can take a long time to figure out how WordPress is configured to meet your needs. And it also happens that the optimal solution to any problem comes after everything more or less works and you don't want to touch something again. I did it with the newsletter by e-mail.

I find it very convenient to use the Feedburner mailing list. Moreover, both in the form of rss and in the form of an e-mail newsletter. But at some point I got a problem. I should have sent all new subscribers an email with a subscription bonus. Unfortunately, Feedburmer doesn't know how to do this (or I didn't understand something). It is clear that sending out manually, even if not very many letters, would not be justified at all.

In Smartresponder, for example, it is possible to create automatic mailings, but with the ability to send news feeds to subscribers in the future on this service, it is not so simple. And to create, for example, a weekly newsletter with blog news, personally for me, is a rather dreary process and to maintain such a mailing will not last long. In general, I began to look for other ways that could combine the capabilities of both, and smartresponder.

I searched, looked for, took a large shovel, began to "dig". It turns out that you can create your own newsletter based on WordPress. And this is more than simple. Plugins have been written to do this for a long time. Take it and put it in - use it. Of course, such a newsletter also has disadvantages and difficulties in setting it up may arise, but nevertheless, there are no less advantages. So:

How to create a newsletter on a blog without resorting to third-party services?

¤ Plugin Suscribe2 is the most popular tool for this purpose. Thanks to him, subscribers can receive newsletters, and it is possible to choose a subscription to specific headings, and it is also possible to send notifications to all subscribers, or letters with other information. Easily customizable letter style and the ability to use code templates also become an advantage over the same feedburner. In general, the time is not far off when this plugin will learn how to “brew coffee and pour beer”.

But this is not the only newsletter plugin. If for some reason Suscribe2 does not suit you, take a look at the newsletter.

¤ BFT Autoresponder and Newsletter - If you plan to conduct only auto-mailings consisting of a series of letters, then this plugin may be the best solution for you. The principle of its operation is that you create a separate section for a series of letters, publish in it those articles that should be sent to subscribers by e-mail and indicate the frequency with which these posts should be sent.

¤ MailPress is another very functional email marketing plugin. On the official page of the plugin, they suggest installing special modules that expand the functionality. This allows you to make the plugin settings as flexible as possible, specifically for your needs. If you need an auto-link - you have installed the module, you do not need it - you have not installed it. The same goes for the rest of the settings.

In addition, there are other newsletter plugins. In this article, I have listed only the main, most popular and functional ones. And of course, I was not able to try everything, so it will be very interesting for me to know your opinion and feedback on these plugins.

Best wishes!
With great respect,

    Tell me how, without plugins, to make a subscription so that when you click the subscribe button, you are not redirected to another site (feedburner and smartresponder) and you are not required to confirm your subscription? So that it is easy, without a bunch of problems and captcha.

    Answer

    • Hello Julia! Signing up without plugins and third-party resources is difficult, but possible, provided you are familiar with CSS and PHP. First, read the section (How to install the "Subscribe without commenting" form).

      Secondly, you can try to redirect your readers from the subscription form (you need to find the form code and install it yourself) to the registration address on your website - jcooks.in.ua/wp-login.php?action=register. Thus, you can build a subscriber base, but you will have to send them letters yourself, since WordPress does not provide automatic mailing of letters. This can be done easier: go to the admin-settings-discussion-and put a tick in front of "Users must be registered and authorized to comment."

    Good afternoon. Am I getting it right that the plugins use an internal mail server? Can plugins be connected to third-party mailing servers? There is both speed and spam protection.

Hello everyone. I will continue the topic of mailing letters, notifying visitors about new posts that you publish on the site. This will prevent users from forgetting about you and will attract additional traffic. It is required to install a subscription form on the site. There are several solutions for these purposes. One of them is to use a subscription form plugin for WordPress.

What is great about WordPress CMS is its constant development. The developers are improving, adding various plugins that expand the site's capabilities. One of them is the SendPulse Email plugin, using which you can place a subscription form on your website.

This plugin is provided by the SendPulse service. This is a marketing automation platform: e-mail newsletters, sms, viber notifications. The free plan has 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails per month. None of the competitors have such advantages.

Sign Up Form Plugin for WordPress - SendPulse Email

Install the plugin in a standard and convenient way. The site has a detailed article on the topic. By activating the plugin, a section will appear in the WordPress menu SendPulse .

The data for setting up and operating the plugin must be taken in your SendPulse account. After activating the plugin, copy the Sendpulse ID and Secret in your personal account. Go to section Account settings.

Select a tab API and and activate REST API.

ID and Secret will be automatically generated. This data must be entered in the plugin settings in the WordPress admin area.

Here, specify the address book to which users will get by subscribing in the form.

In chapter Import also specify the address book in SendPulse where subscribers from WordPress will move to.

How to create a subscription form with a WordPress plugin

SendPulse Email

The plugin can generate an unlimited number of subscription forms. After all, they can have different purposes, differ in the subject of the subscription. They can be installed in different places on the site, and you can track the conversion.

In chapter SendPulse forms press Add shape... Enter a title for the form. But the code of the subscription form itself should be taken again in the Sendpulse account. How to get the code read in the previous article.

Copy the received code and paste it into the required field. On the right you will see a generated shortcode of the form. Don't forget to click Save... All created subscription forms are displayed as a list in the menu SendPulse forms.

This shortcode must be inserted into the page of the site or in the articles, in general, in the right place. In the usual way - on the Visual tab of the text editor.

You have a choice - create subscription forms without a plugin or use a subscription form plugin for WordPress, the main thing is to create. Send newsletters to interested visitors.

Good luck to you!
